Riga, 16 September. Three Latvian companies signed a cooperation agreement with the Riga State Technical College (RVT) today, agreeing to engage in comprehensive training of highly qualified specialists in line with the Green Deal for the economy and the European Union's climate goals.
The agreement provides for the participation of entrepreneurs in new vocational training programmes, as well as support for the development of up-to-date methodological materials, knowledge transfer in the business environment and vice versa. The agreement includes the development of two prototype solar carports at the RVT training base, primarily for charging electric cars, to be industrially produced, using local raw materials as much as possible for the support structures and applying technologies that already comply with the future EU Taxonomy Regulation.
The agreement was signed and joint cooperation projects were agreed between RVT (Director Dagnija Vanaga), an exporting carpentry and design company from Rezekne SIA "Gravtex" (Board member Andris Filipenoks), the first sealed solar panel roof manufacturer in Latvia SIA "Saules Grauds" (Chairman Edmunds Zālīte) and a car sharing company, currently the owner of the largest fleet of electric cars in Latvia SIA "Fiqsy" (Chairman of the Board Māris Avotiņš).
The EU's green deal means a gradual move away from the oil economy of today, and will inevitably require everyone to change the way we currently produce, extract energy, move around, etc. Solar sheds are also a small but important step towards change, we can produce them locally instead of buying them from others. It is also significant that properly and precisely manufactured structures will always consume less raw materials and energy than artisanal construction on site. The installation time for factory-finished products is several times less, so using such products can save significant savings in both materials and money.
Prototypes of the products developed in the cooperation project will be exhibited and tested in a secure but accessible area of the RVT.
